Please provide the contact information requested below to indicate your intent to purchase the Illinois Choose Life license plate if they ever become available in Illinois. You will be contacted if a future Supreme Court ruling requires the Secretary of State to comply with the 01/19/07 Federal Court decision requiring the option of Choose Life plates. Please note that the 01/19/07 decision was overturned on appeal and an appeal of that negative decision to the U.S. Supreme Court was denied, so it is uncertain whether a future case will lead to a Supreme Court review.
The expected cost will be $103 annually ($25 over the $78 cost of a standard plate). The extra funds will be used to support adoption. In the first year $10 goes to aid adoption, with $15 paid to the state as a preparation fee . Annually from then on, $23 goes to adoption aid organizations, and $2 to the state.
If your current plates do not expire within 90 days, you can replace your present plate for a total cost of $54 (the $25 Choose Life fee, plus a $29 license plate replacement fee). As far as we know, you should be able to transfer your current plate number to the Choose Life plate, including vanity plates, but there could be additional costs involved for vanity plates.
